Eckles has been a resident at out Pet Store for the last 10 years. Mary Kirby purchased Eckles as a baby and hand reared him herself. We were delighted to have Eckles in the store and he has become many of the staff and customers mate.
Mary and Greg Kriby brought Eckles from home to the store because he became a very social bird and constantly craved attention. While hanging out at the shop Eckles became a checky loveable bird. He would hop off his perch and go walk abouts around the shop and hop on to people when we felt like it.
Lola was then purchased for Eckles as a girl friend, the pair have not bred but we noticed the change in Eckels straight away. He began feeding Lola and the pair would call to one another when they were out of each other’s sight.
When Eckles was stolen from our store the staff, Mary and Greg found it so strange. The pair were never locked up in a cage until a few months ago when Mary and Greg decided to import a large bird cage from Denmark. Most of the the time the two birds would hang out in the bird room roaming free.
Mary, Greg, Lola and the Upmarket Pets team are very thankful to have our little Eckles back. We would like to thank the Police, Media and the community of Melbourne and Australia. Without everyone’s help we wouldn’t have our little Eckles back…
Mary, Greg and the team would also like to thank every one’s kind words in the emails we received, phone calls, comments on media web sites and comments on the ‘Help find Eckles the stolen bird’ facebook fan page on.
You can still join the facebook fan page for all the Eckles and Lola updates. We love him and believe he should be shared with the public. Feel free to visit Eckles and lola and have a chat.
